What People Are Saying

"Financial Assistance is something I never thought I'd need. Thanks to S.E.R.V.E., I've been able to keep my family in the same home, while making the right changes to my lifestyle..what a great learning experience."-
Stafford County Client

S.E.R.V.E. began its mission to help others in the community back in 1979. The need lives on...and is growing at a fast-paced rate. In 2011 we gave out 95 tons of food to nearly 3,000 families, compared to 75 tons in 2010. We are especially proud that we were able to give 103 senior citizens extra help through Food for Life. S.E.R.V.E. also assisted 1,555 families in obtaining additional food from the Department of Agriculture. Your help means so much to those who are in need. We are here to offer a hand up to those who are in need of one. We offer financial and food pantry assistance. Through a grant from Mary Washington Hospital, we are now also able to provide prescriptions to those in need. We also offer budgeting and financial planning classes, basic computer skills and job employment skills. We know that these skills are empowering.

To encourage individuals and groups to work together to alleviate local human suffering by meeting the emergency needs of individuals and families who are experiencing financial crisis, and to promote programs to help individuals become more self-sufficient.
